CubeFlow Support

Help with timing, sessions, connected devices and competitions.

Questions, bug reports and feedback are welcome.

Getting started

  1. Open Timer and choose your puzzle event and a session for your records.
  2. Choose the timing method you want to use. Start with touch timing if you are not connecting external hardware.
  3. Apply the displayed scramble, start and stop the timer, then check the result. Add +2 or DNF when appropriate.
  4. Open Data to review your history and averages for the selected session.

No CubeFlow account is needed for local timing, solve records or the bundled algorithm library. Internet access is needed for competition services, WCA sign-in and external links.

Timer & customization

What’s the difference between arrangements and Minimal Mode?

Classic, Split and Cards are the three Timer arrangements. Choose the one that gives your timing information the space you want. Minimal Mode is a separate option for reducing visual distractions.

How do I change the timer’s behavior or appearance?

Look in Settings for Timer and appearance options. You can adjust inspection behavior, timing precision, typography, colors and backgrounds. Available controls can depend on the active timing method and your OS version.

If the timer behaves unexpectedly, check the selected input method and inspection settings first. A hardware timing method may be waiting for the connected device.

How do +2 and DNF affect a result?

+2 adds a two-second penalty. DNF marks the attempt as not finished. Review the result’s penalty before relying on an average; a DNF can change whether an average has a valid time.

Data & sessions

Where are my solves stored?

Solves, sessions and settings are stored locally on your device. CubeFlow does not provide cloud solve sync or a CubeFlow account backup service. Export your records regularly, especially before replacing a device or deleting the app.

Why is a solve or average missing?

Check the selected session, event and any active filters. Averages require enough results in the relevant set: Ao5 needs five attempts, Ao12 needs twelve, and Ao100 needs one hundred. Also check for DNF results.

If records still look wrong, export a backup and contact support before deleting sessions or reinstalling.

Can I keep the same history on multiple devices?

You can manually export records on one device and import them on another. This does not create ongoing synchronization. Keep track of which device has the newest records and review import conflicts to avoid unwanted duplicate sessions.

Smart Cube & Bluetooth

  1. Charge or wake your cube or timer, and keep it close to your device.
  2. Turn Bluetooth on and allow CubeFlow access in system settings.
  3. Disconnect the hardware from other apps or devices that may already be using it.
  4. Use CubeFlow’s device controls to scan and select the device, then select the appropriate timing method.
My device appears, but will not connect or respond.

Power-cycle the hardware, restart CubeFlow and try again. If CubeFlow offers cube-state or reference controls, follow those prompts with the physical cube in the indicated state.

Support differs by model and firmware. Send the exact model name, firmware if known, your Apple device and OS version, and a description of what happens. Do not assume that every cube from a supported brand works.

Does every platform support the same hardware?

No. Bluetooth features depend on platform, hardware and OS support. Use an available touch, keyboard or manual input method when your connected device is unavailable. Contact support to check a particular setup.

Competitions & WCA

Do I need to sign in to WCA?

General competition information can be browsed without WCA sign-in. Sign in through WCA when using account-related features. This is your WCA account, not a new CubeFlow account.

Why is competition information missing or out of date?

Check your internet connection and refresh. Schedules, competitor lists and results depend on WCA, WCA Live or Cubing China publishing them. A temporary service issue can delay updates.

Use the competition organizer’s official page for registration, eligibility and last-minute changes. CubeFlow does not manage competition registration.

What if WCA sign-in fails?

Check that you can sign in on the WCA website. Then return to CubeFlow and retry. If a saved session no longer works, sign out of WCA in CubeFlow and sign in again. Never send your password or authorization tokens to support.

How do I connect a Nearby Battle?

Keep both devices nearby, enable the wireless connections needed by your devices, and allow local-network access for CubeFlow. Open Nearby Battle on both devices, then discover and connect to your partner. Device names are visible during discovery.

Nearby Battle is a local mode, not online matchmaking. If discovery fails, check permissions on both devices and try leaving and reopening the mode.

Import & export

Use the data import/export controls in Settings. CubeFlow supports its own backup format and supported csTimer JSON files.

  1. Export a CubeFlow backup of your current sessions and solves before importing anything.
  2. Select your source file, review the import preview, and check how session-name conflicts will be handled.
  3. After importing, review session counts and a few sample results before discarding the original file.

A solve backup is not a complete copy of every setting, photo background or connected-device preference. For the broadest preservation of supported CubeFlow solve fields, prefer the CubeFlow format; another timer’s format may represent fewer fields.

Why was my import rejected?

Use the original exported JSON file, not a screenshot, a pasted table or an edited document. Make sure the file finished downloading before selecting it. If it still fails, keep the original and contact support with the source app and error message. Share private solve data only if you choose to.

Troubleshooting

Can I use CubeFlow offline?

Local timing, saved records and the bundled algorithm library work without a CubeFlow server. Online competition information, WCA authentication and external links need a connection.

Where do I manage photo, location or calendar access?

Use your device’s system settings to review CubeFlow permissions. Selecting a background photo uses the system photo picker; saving an image may ask for permission to add to Photos. Location is optional for the competition map, and calendar permission is used when you choose to add competition events.

Should I reinstall if the app is not working?

First close and reopen the app, check for an available update, and restart your device. Export a backup before deleting or reinstalling CubeFlow: local solve records may otherwise be lost. There is no server-side copy for support to restore.

Is CubeFlow 1.0 on the App Store?

The public App Store release is in preparation. The Download page will link to the official listing when it is available.

Send a support request

Email support@cubeflow.com.cn. Include your CubeFlow version, device model, OS version, what you expected and what happened. For a bug, add the steps that reproduce it and any error message.

A screenshot can help, but remove personal details first. Don’t send passwords, WCA tokens or a full data export unless it is needed and you are comfortable sharing it. See our privacy policy for how support messages are handled.
